Celebrating Hashi Duo’s Debut Album: International Waters

June 4, 2026

The Kingston Chamber Music Festival is delighted to celebrate the release of International Waters, the debut studio album from Hashi Duo, the acclaimed piano and guitar ensemble featuring URI alumni Adrián Montero Moya and Moé Takamatsu. Audiences may remember the duo from their Kingston Chamber Music Festival debut last season, where they brought their unique artistic voice and collaborative spirit to the Festival stage.

Founded on a shared passion for cultural exchange through music, Hashi Duo explores the connections that exist across traditions, identities, and artistic perspectives. As Takamatsu has described, “Our duo’s mission is to explore the differences and similarities that lie between our cultures and to express that through music.” Through thoughtful programming and creative collaboration, the ensemble continues to build bridges between musical worlds.

Released on May 29, International Waters marks an exciting milestone in the ensemble’s artistic journey. Supported by the University of Rhode Island Humanities Graduate Research Grant and the Sparks Grant from the University of South Carolina School of Music, the album reflects the duo’s commitment to artistic exploration and meaningful cultural dialogue through music.

The recording captures the spirit that has defined Hashi Duo since its founding—curiosity, collaboration, and connection across musical traditions. We are thrilled to see Adrián and Moé continue to share their artistry with audiences through this important first recording project.

Hashi Duo will return to the Kingston Chamber Music Festival this summer as part of Concert 4: Between Worlds on July 31. During the program, audiences will have the opportunity to hear Fantasia, Op. 145 by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, a work featured on International Waters, performed live by the duo.

We invite our KCMF community to listen to International Waters and follow @hashi_duo on Instagram to learn more about the album, the inspiration behind its artwork, upcoming performances, and future releases. Congratulations to Adrián, Moé, and everyone involved in bringing this wonderful project to life.
