This year’s festival will run from July 23-August 3 and include a 6-concert series held at Edwards Hall and one bonus concert at the Jamestown Art Center (JAC). We’re delighted to present In Triplicate on July 26th at 4:00 P.M. at the JAC.
Celebrated for being “dazzling, profound, and highly entertaining” by the San Diego Story, In Triplicate combines the talents of three internationally acclaimed musicians each known for impeccable virtuosity: violinist Jasmine Lin, cellist Clancy Newman, and bassist Nate Farrington. They compose, arrange, and perform original music.
While the members of In Triplicate are classically trained, their insatiable desire for invention leads them far outside of the classical realm, with forays into jazz, bluegrass, funk, rock, paper, scissors, and Martian. Each member brings a different set of skills and interests to the table, and all three write their own music: Jasmine arranges irresistibles such as the Gipsy Kings, composed ringtones for Acaia coffee, and pits midi against humans; Clancy composed his first opus at age 7, survived a mosh pit at age 17, and premiered his cello concerto at age 27; Nate sets his own poems to music, creates movie scores, and can play any instrument blindfolded, including medical instruments.
Together these unique perspectives form a rich concert experience full of surprises, while radiating accessibility and freshness. In Triplicate’s collaboration began during the pandemic when they worked together on an arrangement of “The Canyon Wren” by Emy Phelps, improvising with each other virtually and spending over 100 hours recording and compiling tracks. This led to a residency at San Diego State University, and since then they have been exploring new paths, often wild and untamed at first… but logical and even inevitable in retrospect.
