The Kingston Chamber Music Festival is delighted to welcome pianist Kate Liu for her debut at KCMF as part of the Festival’s 38th Season. Internationally acclaimed for her poetic artistry and expressive musicianship, Liu will be featured in Concerts 2 and 3, bringing her distinctive musical voice to audiences in Kingston this summer.
Liu first gained worldwide recognition after earning Third Prize at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, where she also received both the Best Mazurka Prize and the Audience Favorite Prize. Since then, she has established an international career defined by thoughtful interpretations, technical brilliance, and a deeply personal approach to performance.
Her appearances have taken her to many of the world’s leading concert halls, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Kennedy Center, Seoul Arts Center, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, and the Warsaw National Philharmonic. She has also performed with renowned ensembles including the Warsaw Philharmonic, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Rochester Philharmonic.
In 2025, Liu released her debut album featuring sonatas by Beethoven and Brahms, further showcasing the artistry and musical insight that have earned her international acclaim. Born in Singapore, she began piano studies at the age of four and went on to study at the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
