The Kingston Chamber Music Festival is delighted to welcome acclaimed cellist Tommy Mesa to its 38th Season. Recognized as one of the most dynamic and compelling musicians of his generation, Mesa will be featured in Concert 1: 250 Years—A Chamber Music Journey from 1776 to Modern America and Concert 2: The British Are Coming, bringing his extraordinary artistry and expressive musicianship to KCMF audiences this summer.
A recipient of Lincoln Center’s 2025 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Sphinx Organization’s 2023 Medal of Excellence, Mesa has established an international reputation as both a soloist and chamber musician. His performances have taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, appearing with ensembles including The Cleveland Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.
A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Mesa has championed new works throughout his career, including serving as the exclusive soloist for Jessie Montgomery’s Divided, a concerto written specifically for him. Alongside his orchestral work, he is an active recitalist, recording artist, and collaborator whose performances continue to showcase both technical brilliance and remarkable emotional depth.In addition to his performance career, Mesa is a dedicated educator and ensemble musician, serving as principal cellist of Sphinx Virtuosi and appearing regularly with leading chamber music organizations across North America.
