The Kingston Chamber Music Festival is pleased to welcome back pianist Henry Kramer to its 38th Season. Recognized for his thoughtful artistry, expressive interpretations, and exceptional technical command, Kramer has earned acclaim from audiences and critics alike. He will be featured in Concert 5: Nightingale’s Encore and Concert 6: Youth and Memory, bringing his dynamic musicianship to KCMF audiences this summer.
Kramer gained international recognition after winning Second Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 2016. In 2019, he was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most distinguished honors presented to emerging American classical musicians. Critics have praised his performances for their sensitivity, insight, and individuality, with The New York Times describing them as “thrilling” and “triumphant.”
Since beginning piano studies at age eleven in his hometown of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Kramer has built an impressive international career. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras around the world, including the Belgian National Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished recitalist and chamber musician, he has performed at venues such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Alice Tully Hall, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, collaborating with many of today’s leading artists and ensembles.
In addition to his performing career, Kramer is a dedicated educator and currently serves on the faculty of the Université de Montréal.
